Anthology features local spiritual musicians
"The Sound of Earth Rhythms:
Spiritual Music from Winter SolstiCelebration and Moonlady Night”
$17 (includes tax & shipping)
For sale at http://www.earthrhythms.org/catalog
Dallas-based nonprofit group Earth Rhythms has released a CD of spiritual music from their popular events, Winter SolstiCelebration and Moonlady Night. The group is raising funds to fulfill their mission of presenting experiential events, preserving natural places and providing assistance to those in need in the North Texas.
All songs on the recording illuminate the human spirit and three are available nowhere else on CD. The diverse showcase includes earthy folk and country tunes, soaring popera vocals and harp, modern jazz and ancient world beat, and a variety of inspirational, pop and rock. The themes of longing and release, of belief and hope, unite the songs.
Samples from each of the songs may be heard at: http://www.earthrhythms.org/storefront/store_01.html
“Hundreds and hundreds of people attend Winter SolstiCelebration and Moonlady Nights,” explains Earth Rhythms executive director Amy Martin. “They enjoy the ceremonies, drums, vegetarian feasts, silent auctions and such. But what they remember is the music.”
These artists have graciously donated their songs to help raise funds for Earth Rhythms, for projects like bringing leaders in alternative spirituality to North Texas. Learn more about the group that so moves these artists at www.EarthRhythms.org. For insight into the Moonlady News community, visit www.Moonlady.com.
"The Sound of Earth Rhythms: Spiritual Music from Winter SolstiCelebration and Moonlady Night” was produced for Earth Rhythms by J. Kendel Johnson and Amy Martin, with assistant producers Cornell Kinderknecht and Rodney Steman. CD graphic design by Scooter Smith. Liner notes by Amy Martin.

Earth Rhythms logo contest - May 31, 2007
Dallas non-profit group forms, contest for its logo design announced.
A non-profit group was formed in April 2007 to promote and produce an annual Dallas event held the past 15 years called Winter SolstiCelebration™. Named Earth Rhythms™, the group’s mission is to expand experiential events such as Winter SolstiCelebration, to work to preserve natural places, and to provide assistance to those in need in North Texas. Earth Rhythms consists of its President Amy Martin, a Board of Directors and an Advisory Committee.
“Each year the event outdoes the year before and size and content, for the future we envision attracting national talent and media coverage,” explains event creator and producer Amy Martin. “In order to accomplish this goal the event required an entity, thus the formation of Earth Rhythms.”
And because a new entity needs an identity, a logo design contest is underway. A cash prize of $200 will be awarded to the winner. The judging panel includes Sam Betts, CD, Sam Betts Creative; James Ware, Sr. Art Director, Triad Business Marketing; and Beverly Adams, CEO, Luminary Productions. Deadline for submissions is June 30, with winners announced by the end of July.
Winter SolstiCelebration Background
Winter SolstiCelebration, a Dallas tradition of 15 years, grew from a modest gathering into a complex event merging a variety of performance, ceremony and festival. Attracting over 750 each December to the majestic Cathedral of Hope, it is now the second largest Winter Solstice celebration in the nation.
